Safety Saturday Active Shooter Preparedness

Saturday, May 1, 2021
10:00 AM - 12:00 PM

Presented by the Institute for Childhood Preparedness, the active shooter preparedness training for early childhood professionals is a critical component to keeping child care programs safe and secure. Unfortunately, active shooter events are on the rise. There were 611 mass shootings in 2020, and childcare professionals need to train for these events just as they would for a fire, tornado, flood, or earthquake.

The Institute for Childhood Preparedness designs their training course to meet the specific needs of early childhood professionals. They provider lectures, videos, and discussions to make sure educators are more prepared and empowered.

Educators will learn evidence-based techniques and strategies on how to prepare for and respond to an active shooter incident. Educators will also learn how to conduct drills, develop a customized plan, and work together to ensure both educators and children are best prepared.

Effective April 1, 2021, educators must be present and visible on video camera for the entire class time.
