In an effort to improve culturally responsive practices in early childhood settings in Alaska, this class will support educators reflect and improve their culturally responsive practices in order to identify areas of strengths and areas for continuous improvement. Some of the topics we will discuss include but are not limited to;

  • explore how their own background and bias impact teaching practices
  • different types of diversity, representing diversity in the classroom
  • how to incorporate diversity into their learning environments

We will utilize the Guidelines for Culturally- Responsive Reflective Practice in Birth – Five Settings developed through a partnership project between Cook Inlet Tribal Council/Clare Swan Early Learning Center and the University of Alaska Anchorage. This tool is also part of the points menu for programs working towards Learn & Grow levels 3, 4, and 5.

Session 1: Monday, October 16, 2023, 6:00 - 8:00 pm
