Positive Ways to Support Children's Social and Emotional Development

Early educators must understand how to support young children's developing communication skills through opportunity to listen, interact, and express themselves freely with others.  Adults should support children's creative impulses by respecting play and providing a wide variety of activities that encourage expression and expansion of children's imagination.  Children's emotional security is encouraged through appropriate guidance, opportunity to know and accept their selves, and through experiences that help them grow as individuals.
