October 6, 13 and 20; from 2 - 4 pm. You must attend all three sessions, there will be no partial credit given.

Course Description:

The Principles of Adult Learning (PAL) course is aimed at trainers who support the professional growth of other early educators and who wish to be recognized as a Alaska SEED-approved trainer. Participants must be at least a SEED Level 6 to qualify as a provisional trainer and take this course. This content of this course includes:

  • Principles of adult learning and the theories which guide adult education practices
  • How the way an individual processes information influences learning
  • A review of instructional design, to include the development of learning objectives
  • Discussion on the types of assessment tools and the benefits of using these
  • Tips for being prepared for training
  • Review on various trainer styles and strategies for public speaking which reduce anxiety
